It's kind of wearing when I open my window every day staring at my comparable old garden. It looks somehow neglected even though I commonly sustain it tidy and pretty. Exactly the same plants, identical terrain, and identical arbors, all look old on my garden. This itchy feeling is suddenly creeping on my palms, bringing an urge to generate something new.
Then images of landscape begin to pop out in my mind, the images of my neighbors' garden when I visited their residence, the images of genuine estate advertisements exactly where they put wonderful garden about the advertised houses, the images of my own fancy garden. Confusion slowly occupies my mind. To leading that, I don't have any clue on what or exactly where to begin with.
Thankfully, I do not have any hyperventilating concern. So I go to my pantry, prepare myself a hot cup of black coffee which sometimes assists a lot. Although zipping my hot coffee, my eyes go to that same old garden outside my window, thinking exactly where to obtain wonderful suggestions for landscaping. The stack of magazines on the book shelf looks appealing. I grab some, browse every page to seek wonderful garden pictures or residence advertisements, and not forgetting to put a sticky note on the page containing the landscape style I prefer for my garden.
After finishing with that, I open the noted pages to review each design once again. They are inspiring yet not really fitting the requirements I seek for my garden. Hence I approach my laptop to search more alluring ideas. Obviously there are hundreds designs of flawless gardens which need thorough evaluation before determining to save some for my own reference. Those designs indeed evoke more ideas for landscaping my sought garden.
The dimension of the most preferred design thereinafter should accommodate the terrain of my garden. Each garden has its own character that requires adjustment in every angle. It occurs to me that I probably need to seek advice from professionals on this, considering my lack of knowledge on landscape design. The consequence of this concern however is the escalating budget, especially their huge fees. Not yet to mention their choice of materials, plants, decorations, and deadline which on some cases I heard are long overdue. Such constraints should be excluded from my tight schedule and, of course, budget as well. Will the grand expectation and limited budget collide at perfect combination?

In many jurisdictions it is completely legal to grow marijuana for medicinal purposes if you have the right paperwork. Outside growing is a great way to approach medical marijuana cultivation. It's not without it's own special problems. One of those is the way in which you will water the crop.
The plants require water. The more they get the more they'll grow. Drainage is important, of course.
Drainage matters because marijuana doesn't like to have "wet feet". It is drought resistant if it's been prepared, but a steady supply of water yields the best results.
If you grow close to your house this isn't a problem. You can drag your hose to the plants. It may be outdoors, but a steady supply of water is convenient.
Except some places have watering restrictions. If that applies to you then you do have a problem, just like a guerrilla gardener. You have to store water and plan, because you can't just leave the tap running.
A combination of solutions probably works best. A location close to water is helpful. Soil that retinas water adds to the solution. Water storage is another answer.
Having water close means situating the garden downhill from a stream, creak or lake. Being within walking distance or the length of several hoses limits your distance. It's conceivable that an irrigation ditch could be dug as well.
Water is heavy and takes up lots of space. Carrying it is hard. If you are carrying it you want to be close. There's nothing low profile about bring found by hikers with ten gallons of water strapped to your back.
A hose based supply system should run downhill. If you try to go uphill you'll need pumps. Pumps mean gas and noise unless you use rechargeable batteries. That's an option but requires ingenuity. Hoses must be hidden or else they'll lead right to the garden, and that means plant theft.
Irrigation troughs can work, but that's a lot of digging, and the landscape may not cooperate. They are hard to hide. They also run counter to the natural contours of the land.
When the water gets delivered is an important issue as well. A constant drip or leak system is better than flooding the garden from time to time. If you have to always go to water the plants you'll become a slave to them. Some degree of automation is desirable. It also helps keep the garden inconspicuous.
Two solutions offer themselves to the guerrilla gardener. Containers that store water and release it slowly is one. The other is improving the soil so that it holds water longer.
Containers that hold large amounts of water are critical to a storage system. The containers must be easy to hide, but must hold a large volume. There are different approaches.
One is a series of five gallon buckets. They are small enough to hide in vegetation and debris. They are easy to acquire. They are also easy to fill, either by hose or directly from a water source if it's close enough. Paint them black, green or camo so that they disappear into the background.
55 gallon drums are another option. Steel ones work, but lighter plastic ones are also available. They are harder to hide, but they can sometimes be hidden in plain sight as garbage.
Like five gallon drums, they're easy to fill with a hose. You can put a plumbing fixture in the bottom to make watering easier, or attach a soaker hose to make it self watering. A self watering system, especially one with an automatic filler, won't pass as garbage, though, and will need good hiding.
One advantage of bigger drums is that they can catch and store rainwater. This won;t solve the whole problem, but it will help.
Recycled waterbed mattresses are another neat trick. They hold lots of water and are low profile. You can have a permanent fill hose and a slow release system, or you can fill it occasionally and then use the same hose to slowly drain it and water the crop.
The last method is to improve or alter the soil so that it retains more moisture and water. Farmers across the globe have practiced this for centuries. There are also modern additives that help retain water and release it slowly.
When your plot is on a hillside it will tend to drain more quickly. Terracing the area will help. You can also dig pits lined with plastic sheets to capture and retain rainwater. Mulching around the base of the plants will also retain moisture. Cover the area with prunings and clippings.
Hydrogels, or water retention crystals are now available. They swell up when soaked and hold water, slowly releasing it back into the soil. They are made of polymeracrilides or else of starch, and while their effectiveness is debated I think that they work. When I've used them they certainly swelled up when wetted down. I'm sure they'd help plants endure dry times.

Much can be learned about a culture by looking at how they used their environment around of them. When you look at ancient cultures you may be surprised at what plants were used in day to day life for basic survival. Amongst these plants is the cannabis plant. There have been a surprising number of cultures over the years that have used the cannabis plant to serve a wide number of purposes.
The ancient people of the Yang-Shao were some of the first to be on record as depending on the cannabis plant for basic survival. They were a hunting and fishing culture that lived along the Yellow River Valley in China around 6,500 years ago. They used the cannabis plant to make hemp nets and other tools in order to gather food. Hemp later became important in the world of clothing with the development of hemp cloth. Hemp cloth replaced animal skins as the clothing of choice. It was even the clothing of choice for the wealthy until the introduction of silk.
As time progressed more uses of the cannabis plant were developed in ancient China. The daily diet of ancient cultures included more hemp than you would think. Hemp seeds were ground up, cooked in soups, or roasted to perfection. Hemp seeds were even said to have saved a famine struck Asian culture going through a terrible war.
The medicinal uses of marijuana are not a recent discovery either. There are records of some of the earliest recorded "doctors" prescribing marijuana for a number of ailments. Pot was believed to help with constipation, attention span, and even malaria. Other medicinal uses of cannabis includes a pain deadening paste made of crushed up marijuana flowers. The paste would be applied to an area of a broken bone or pre and post surgery. Cannabis was considered a magic herb for it's usefulness.
The later production of hemp oil and paper proved very useful. Hemp paper is still unmatched in it's durability and tear resistant nature. As a matter of fact the Canadians are so impressed that they use it as their currency. Some high end books, including bibles, are still printed on hemp paper. Hemp seed oil was used in just about everything. It generally used in cooking and leftover oil formed high protein cakes perfect for the family pet. Other uses include lamp oil, varnish, paint, and even in the making of soap. It is apparent how essential the cannabis plant was to ancient cultures.

In the past greenhouses were used for small gardens and caring for individual horticulturalists prized flowers but commercial greenhouses are in the focus more lately with all of the attention given to green and sustainable living choices.
For example, universities and agricultural departments have built commercial greenhouses for their studies. These were only a larger version of smaller greenhouses made for individuals. Many elementary and pre-schools were also building greenhouses to teach and to educate the generations to come. These children and students were learning about our world, our earth, life, organic growing, eating habits and self-worth.
As our land and our soil become more and more obsolete, another good reason to build a greenhouse is to plant a garden using hydroponics. Hydroponics is used to grow without the use of soil but something more available that can transport nutrients to the roots of the plants.
Recently, I have been reading about building acreage up, a system termed "eco building". It is the process of building large high rises to use as greenhouses. By growing up and not out, we can use less land, and also generate crops without the dependency on other countries. One example of this is the tomato industry. South America dominants the growing of the tomato crop, however shipping and spoilage present problems. With Greenhouse structures going up and not out, we could capture some of the vegetable and industry back and regain some economic features for our own country. Also consider the world's poor populations. If we can supply healthy vegetation to otherwise dry climates, we could feed a nation by building these greenhouse structures upward. And lastly, consider the oil crisis. Our development of corn and other types of fuel can only better our world.
Organic fertilizing has been an issue we have struggled with over the years. We know chemicals placed on our plants is bad for you and we know that harmones injected into our livestock is also harmful. With organic living we can control the insects by allowing the good insects to kill off the bad and growing indoors allows this cleaner "greener" living. Our world has always had some faction carrying the mantra of "getting back to nature" but now is the time to take action and do this.
We are all learning so much about the earth, the economy and about green sustainable living. Greenhouse plantations would conquer a lot of these issues very quickly. Building greenhouses could be the answer.

Ashford in County Wicklow Ireland is home to one of the most interesting gardens in Ireland. Mount Usher Gardens is a horticulturalist's and nature lover's dream which was established in the mid 1800s by Edward Walpole in a small plot and expanded by his family in later years.
The Walpoles increased the size of the gardens and collected trees, shrubs and flowers from all over the world. The preferred style of garden at the time was formal but Mount Usher was laid out in a much more naturalistic style in the style of Robinson around the River Vartry which flows through it.
Whatever the time of year, Mount Usher has a varying display of colour and foliage. Plants from around the world are coming into bloom at different times ensuring that visitors have a different experience depending on what time of year the visit. The many hues produced by rhododendrons, pinus montezumae, bluebells, eucalyptus, a kiwi-fruit vine and a huge Eucryphia make every visit memorable.
The garden has a range of more than 4000 plants which can be classified in three major groups: Nothofagus (the southern hemisphere beech), Eucalyptus, and Eucryphia. There are numerous other varieties of exotic trees and shrubs which cannot be found anywhere else in Western Europe. Magnolias, Camellias, Handkerchief trees, Chilean Firebush, Mock Orange, are all to be found there.
A visit to Mount Usher in different seasons will be a different experience each time because of the changing colours and foliage and visitors often return again and again.
There is a shop, tea rooms and good quality restaurant in the grounds where you can relax and dine while exploring the garden.
After you have left Mount Usher you may decide to take a stroll in the nearby Devil's Glen. The Devil's Glen Wood is owned by Coillte (The Irish Forest Management Company) and is fully accessible to the public with car parking, picnic facilities and a variety of forest walks and is open every day from 9am - 9pm. The Devil's Glen consists of native Irish trees and species introduced from abroad. In recent years there has been an increase in the planting of broadleaf species and today almost 15% of the Glen is planted with broadleaves.
The Devil's Glen is also home to Sculpture in Woodland, a collection of 13 wooden sculptures by different artists. Started in the 1990s a new sculpture is commissioned each year and added to the collection. Sculpture in Woodland has become a very popular attraction in the last few years.
Visitors to Mount Usher and The Devil's Glen can get excellent accommodation at one of the many bed and breakfasts in the village of Ashford or they can stay in one of the many Wicklow Hotels which are available nearby.
