Hydroponics is Clean Gardening

Posted by Sarah Duke

Raising plants without utilizing dirt is known as hydroponic gardening. Most often water is utilized in hydroponic gardening, hence the name. Of course, there are more technically exact explanations. But for the home gardener, that's probably all you have to know.

Many people may question how hydroponic gardening is possible. Many folks are certain that soil is compulsory for the progression of a plant. It provides nourishment, physical support, energy and water. These are all essential in order for the plant to thrive. However these elements are also available from additional sources.

Water is an absolute essential for any plant life. However, soil isn't the only way to provide it. Many plants grow wild in rocks or sand, and even floating on a body of water.

Plants also need energy in the form of sunlight and warmth. But sun warmed earth is not the sole source of energy. Sunlight works directly on foliage the same way it does for vegetation in the earth. The vital process of photosynthesis occurs even when you leave the upper part of a plant open to daylight. There are plants that don't require any light whatsoever. However they still need energy to fuel their normal growth phases.

A number of of the plants that attract the home gardener require some physical support. Most frequently, this is achieved by planting them in the earth. That's why the roots of a plant proliferate, and its stem is able to stand firm against strong winds. But there are other options for supporting your plants. Try weaving twine through a fence-like assembly, or fasten some craft sticks to the top of a pot. There are other ideas that can likewise do the trick.

A healthy plant also needs ample nutrition. This comprises nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and various trace elements. In a natural environment, the plant will take in these nutrients from the earth around it. However there are other methods to provide these vital nutrients to your plants.

A common means of doing this is to keep the plant's roots covered in a water-based liquid nutrient mixture. There are methods that make use of a hydroponics grow tent to retain water. A nutrient solution is misted onto the roots frequently to keep them soaked. This technique has similarities to aeroponics, another method of soil-less gardening.

Hydroponic gardening can turn out attractive, healthy plants. There are a lot of types of plants that can prosper above ground. Just make sure you look after their requirements.
