Guide To Picking A Chainsaw

Posted by Frankie Lee

When you obvious need a chainsaw for the work ahead, nothing will simply do. The fact that the chainsaw possesses serious woodcutting power is a testament of that. BIf you are thinking of buying one, there are some things you need to consider. There are two kinds of chainsaws - the gas-powered ones and the electric type. Choosing between the two should be determined by your immediate access to either power source. Are you going to use your chainsaw in a lumber mill in the middle of the forest or are you planning to do some wood trimming in your work shed at the back of your house? Location is, obviously, an important matter in picking a chainsaw.

You must also know that while gas-powered chainsaws offer mobility and power, they run on a mixture between gas and oil. Mixing oil and gas and getting the right ratio can be a bother and most of the times, they distribute this really irritating smoke coming from the engines. The gas powered chainsaw is also a noisy equipment.

The electric chainsaws lacks the power gas chainsaws can offer, limiting its functions to small wood cutting jobs and backyard chores. Also, a power cord dragging behind you can be a bother. But they are cleaner, quieter, and lighter than its gas-driven counterpart.

Before making a choice on your chainsaw, consider the work you are planning with it. Are you going to cut down some timber or trim the branches of your trees in the front yard? Gas-powered chainsaws are the best options for felling down mighty pines and oaks. But if you are just looking for some equipment to to do some firewood cutting chores and other backyard trimming, you're better off with electric chainsaws.

You must also consider the weight of your chainsaw. Powerful chainsaws translate to heavy chainsaws. You should pick the chainsaws with weight you are able to handle easily and comfortably. Lefties also need to learn to work with chainsaws really fast, as most models are built for right-handed persons.

When buying a chainsaw, especially a gas-powered one, there are some other safety gear you should also consider purchasing " hard hat, shin guards, protective goggles, heavy duty gloves, non-skid boots and ear muffs. These protective clothing help reduce the instances of accidents and injuries that come with chainsaw usage.
