Bonsai Pots are available in many sizes and shapes and are usually made of a clay material, although more and more frequently Indoor Bonsai are being potted in inexpensive plastic Bonsai Pots. If this is the case you should consider other Bonsai Pots that are almost identicle in size and shape for your first re-potting. Bonsai Pots contain drainage holes in their bottoms so that all the excess water can drain, preventing root rot. Because Bonsai Pots contain these drainage holes in the bottom, screens must be used to hold the soil inside. Bonsai Pots come in both glazed and unglazed clay and unglazed clay containers can be various shades.
