Unfortunately, the above comments do not reflect reality. MTD makes numerous lawn mowers under different names, as well as other outdoor power equipment. I purchased a Yard Man Mower for about $400, and after two years (the warrantly is for 1 year), I had spent over $200 in repairs for the power drive. When the power drive went out again, I gave the Yardman Mower to Goodwill and purchased a new Honda Mower for $450, which has been excellent. MTD does NOT repair their mowers for free, only during the covered warranty period. I have had my Honda for 3 years, going on year 4, and I have had no trouble whatsoever with it. Compare that to the Yardman mower with the costs and frequency of repair(mine was always the power drive) , you do get what you pay for. Avoid MTD if you can, it will save you frustration and money in the long run
